Fuengirola–Benalmádena ferry: timetable, tickets and when it is worth it

Updated October 25, 2026 · 4 min read

The yellow coastal ferry approaching Fuengirola marina

The ferry between Fuengirola and Benalmádena is transport with a sea view, not the fastest connection. The operator schedules about 1 hour each way. Choose it for an enjoyable coastal journey or to combine two resorts without driving; choose bus or train when arrival time matters more than the ride.

Timetable and season

The operator currently publishes daily high-season service from 1 April to 31 October. From Fuengirola, departures are listed at 11:30 am, 1:30 pm, 3:30 pm and a one-way-only 6:00 pm sailing. In November, February and March it publishes Tuesday and Saturday service at 11:30 am, 1:30 pm and a one-way-only 3:30 pm sailing. January is absent from that timetable.

These are operator times, not a permanent promise. Weather or technical issues can change the service. Check the official timetable on the day and pay attention to “one way”: the last boat may not offer a return by sea.

Tickets and what is on board

The operator currently advertises adult tickets at €14 one way or €19 return, and child tickets at €8 one way or €12 return. The same ferry on GetYourGuide starts at €14. Verify the age definition and current price before paying. Return times can be combined, giving you time in Benalmádena without joining an organised tour.

The boat advertises toilets, Wi-Fi and a bar with snacks and drinks. Seating is standard rather than luxury. If step-free boarding, a pushchair, wheelchair or a pet matters, ask the operator directly before booking; sea conditions and gangways can affect access.

Ferry versus bus or train

The ferry delivers the better view but is seasonal, weather-dependent and less frequent. The M-120 bus links Fuengirola with Benalmádena Costa throughout the day and is the practical fallback. The coastal railway serves Fuengirola and Benalmádena-Arroyo de la Miel, which is useful for the town centre but not the same place as the marina.

Our recommendation

Buy a return ticket when the boat ride is part of the day and the published return suits your plan. Buy one way when you deliberately intend to return by bus or train. Do not take the final outward sailing without knowing how you will come back. For most visitors, the ferry is worth it as a calm coastal experience, not as a time-saving transfer.
